I am on placement as a research student at the University of Gloucestershire. Within this role, I work on numerous projects for a variety of clients.
I was initially inspired to pursue a career in the games industry after playing Irrational Game’s Bioshock, and have since developed an interest in the use of video games as a medium through which to tell gripping narratives that leave lasting impressions upon players.
Throughout the duration of my course, I have gained experience using a wide range of software – Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Flash, InDesign), 3ds Max, Unity, Unreal, and CryEngine – and learnt numerous vital skills, such as being a successful member of a team, the importance of time management, and how to critically analyse my own work.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing a variety of video games, with a preference for those that are more story-driven. I am currently swept up in the Witcher 3, and fit into the category of player who reads every single scrap of lore that they can get their hands on!
I am also very fond of reading, writing, drawing, and listening to podcasts. The latter hobby has resulted in me running a fan blog dedicated to a specific podcast; this has given me valuable experience with managing a social media account with a significantly large following, and creating audience appropriate content.
